CSSC North West Region Snooker Competition Report 2019
In a repeat of the final twelve months ago, Paul held his nerve in a tense final against Phil Fitzgerald, firing in a long black down the side cushion to edge a thrilling match by two frames to one.
Paul had the more straightforward journey to the final, dropping only two frames on his way to topping the group phase of the competition.
Phil ended the group phase tied in second place with organiser Iain Houghton, forcing a one-frame play-off to decide who would challenge Paul for the title.
With just the colours remaining, Iain looked to be strong favourite, but Phil fought back despite being under the weather to clear the table and book his place in the final.
Phil also recorded the highest break of the day with a 54 in the group phase.
Paul will once again represent the region in the National Finals at Stoke on Trent in November.
