First Qualifier - Southern Region Shore Angling
The Southern Region Shore Angling first qualifier was held on Monday 7 October at Pagham, West Sussex. We all met at the Pagham car park at 1500 hrs ready to start fishing at 16:00.

The weather on the day was cloudy with strong winds and heavy drizzle. The sea was choppy with a slight amount of seaweed.
The First Catch
First to catch a fish was Ian Edwards with a silver eel of 45 cms followed by a school bass of 10 cm but this was undersize. The next to catch a fish was john Downing with a nice eel of 52cm.
Halfway through the match, Clive Bonnett’s line went slack and he reeled in a lovely bass measuring 44cm. Nobody else caught and as the weather deteriorated it was decided to end the match at 20:00. The match was very challenging and as we all got very wet we retired to the local pub.

Results for this match will be added to the score for the second qualifying match to determine who goes through to the final in 2020
