Wales Region Update - August 2021
Firstly, I hope that this newsletter finds you all well. The last 18 months has taken so much out of people and it’s okay to be wanting a break away from it all. Since restrictions have been slowly relaxed my partner and I have taken advantage and have been lucky enough to visit West Wales: We visited the island of Skomer (where we saw the puffins – didn’t realise they were so small) and camped and walked through the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast – Britain’s only coastal Park – which was not only gorgeous scenery but had so many interesting historic and religious sites.
Secondly, I send my sincerest thanks to you all for your contributions, innovation, loyalty and enthusiasm that you have shown during these ‘interesting’ times. The many challenges that have been imposed on us during this time have led to the region exploring new ways to engage with our members over the past year. Our community has been profoundly affected by the new status quo and while we would all like to return to a new normal what that looks like at the moment is still uncertain.
Our priority now must be to make the most of on the new practices we have learnt to engage our communities while trying to mix in some of the activities we enjoyed before. I’d like to encourage our areas to use this time to ponder what a ‘new normal’ will l look like and a big part of that is happening through the trial of the regional blueprint. This is an opportunity for you, our members, to feedback how you want the future to develop in a fair and equitable way.
I know that the regional and area committees have been working on many new projects and events for the coming months, some of these are discussed in the newsletter.
I am also looking forward to the opportunity to meet some of you IRL (In Real Life) at the regional conference later in the year but hopefully I will get the chance to meet a few more of you at events during the course of the year.
Until then stay safe and enjoy your summer.
Warmest regards,
Rebecca
