CSSC Volunteer Merit Award Winner - Paula Hadfield
CSSC are delighted for Paula who is a former CSSC Volunteer of the Year, Paula has been the "beating heart" of the Yeovil Area Association for the last 21 years. Everything Paula does is done cheerfully & with a smile. Her constant enthusiasm is infectious. As new event organisers are found, Paula regularly volunteers to mentor them, thus ensuring their retention.
Paula’s commitment has seen her assisting with producing and running volunteer training & development evenings as well as a member’s training evening to help them maximise their CSSC membership. Paula devised an Area Policy Guidance document 20+ years ago and is still involved in updating it annually.
“It is the Council’s expressed determination that the award should come to be regarded, both inside and outside of the Council, as recognition of service of a very high order”. Sir Richard Hayward, CSSC Chairman 1978

‘I have been honoured with a Merit Award! It was strange at first as I didn’t know at what point I could tell anyone, then, even though I knew it was real, because CSSC hadn’t yet publicised it I didn’t tell anyone apart from my husband and my sister! Once it appeared on the CSSC Volunteers Facebook page, I told EVERYONE I know!!! 😊 It was like I had just found out all over again!!
I work for Defence Equipment & Support, part of the Ministry of Defence. They are delighted for me and are picking it up as what they call a “Good News Story”!! They intend to publicise it! The COMMS Team want me to write 700 words and send 3 photos! I have also received an email from my Director, a 2 Star (which might not mean a lot to non-MoD people but he’s a “Senior Civil Servant”, SCS grade), congratulating me!!! Amazing!!
Obviously not everyone has heard of CSSC. But hopefully, as a result of this free publicity, we can make sure many more hear about us!!’
