Newport Area Update 2023
1. Thank you and goodbye Sue
Sue Mulcahy has been the Chairperson for Newport Area for more than 20 years. We are grateful for all the time and effort she has put in to make Newport Area CSSC the success it is. And whilst we are sad to see Sue go, we know she will be enjoying time doing other volunteering activities and spending more time with her family.
2. Committee Changes
Stepping into the Chairperson role will be Ian Macrory (ONS) who you will know was previously the Newport Area Secretary. Yangi Vundamina (ONS) has taken over the Secretary role and Julie Thomas (IPO) remains as Treasurer.
3. Volunteer Vacancy
We currently have a vacancy for a Comms volunteer, to update Facebook and send a quarterly comms newsletter out. We're always looking for more volunteers to sit on the committee so we can have greater representation across the Area, if you’re interested, please contact us.
4. Newport Area AGM
The Newport AGM was held 30th March 2023. An update and outcome of this meeting will be circulated soon.
5. Offers
Over the next few months, we’ll be looking at the offers we currently have and looking to add more. Any suggestions from you will help us to understand what you, the member, want from your CSSC membership. Maybe a family day trip to West Midlands Safari Park, or for the sportier an activity based day at Llangdegfedd Reservoir or Cardiff International White Water – we’re open to any suggestions you have.
6. Working with other CSSC Areas
We’ve also reached out to the Cardiff Area team and will be running some joint events. The first of which will be an overnight trip to Birmingham Christmas Markets on 25th/26th November 2023. Places are limited so please email treasurer.newport@csscvolunteer.co.uk for more information.
