National news
July - The sporting month
This weekend alone sees the Wimbledon finals, the culmination of the Euros 2020 (yes it’s still called that), the start of the cricket season and the athletics Diamond League, which can provide qualification to this year’s Olympic Games.
So, if you’re a sports fan, there’s no better time to mark your calendar and settle back for a feast of festivities.
What’s coming up
Next weekend the Open comes to Royal St George’s golf club in Kent, postponed from last year. For anyone lucky enough to have tickets, it’s looking to be an ‘open’ (pardon the pun) and closely fought championship.
For motor racing fans the epitome of engineering, Formula 1, comes to Silverstone. For many, the UK Grand Prix is the height of the racing calendar and represents the turning point of the season. And this year it’s much closer than previous years, to be witnessed by full crowds for the first time in over a year.
The British and Irish Lions continue their tour of Africa with the Rugby test series. Their two recent victories will stand them in good stead for the difficult task ahead.
England take on Pakistan in the cricket T20, which many see as a warm up for the five test series against India later on in the summer.
And of course, for many the pinnacle of sporting spectacular, the Tokyo Olympic games starts a little later than planned on 23 July, to ‘run’ (sorry) until 8 August. But much more about that in a future news item.
CSSC sports and funding
For many members, sport doesn’t just provide an opportunity to get fit and stay active. It’s an escape, a passion, a driving force to push themselves and accomplish their goals and dreams. And we recognise this at CSSC and share this motivation to help our members take part in and try as many sports as possible.
Not only do we offer over 40 different sports and games to play and take part in, but we also offer communities to join in with and share your passions and swap tips. We offer discounted tickets to local and national sporting events. We even help with funding to take part in, train in, represent your country in and qualify as officials. Not to mention you can save loads of money while you pick up all your equipment and clothing, through our partners and suppliers.
