National fitness day

23rd Sep 2020

This Wednesday 23 September is National Fitness Day. An initiative to help everyone from pre-schoolers to retirees get active and lead healthy, happy lives.

It’s an excellent opportunity to take a few moments to think about your own fitness. It provides some fantastic ideas, games and activities to motivate you and your loved ones to have fun, while getting fit.
But don’t just take our word for it. check out their website for some great hints, tips and tools to get active at home or in venues all over the country.

New Year’s Resolutions

But it’s only September! Yep we hear you. But we love to be forward thinking, especially when it comes to being creative with your wellbeing.

It’s now less than 100 days until New Year’s Eve, when so many of us think about starting our resolutions. And according to recent surveys, only 25% of people continue their resolution after 30 days. And only 8% actually finish them.

Which got us thinking, how can we help improve that figure and make some lasting changes for our members?

  • It occurred to us that when the evenings are at their darkest and coldest, January might not be the best time to go out for a run.
  • Many gyms are either closed for New Year’s Day or so packed with others trying to start the year off in the right way, that it can be hard to sign up.
  • We’ve got so much on with kids going back to school and us going back to work, it’s not surprising we let some things slip, usually our own wellbeing.
So our top tip is to start now!

Research suggests that those who already have some kind of routine, succeed far more often that those who don’t. By planning your run route, buying your shoes and equipment and finding a gym or workout routine that suits your aims now, while it’s still light and mild, you’ll be much more likely to enjoy your chosen exercise. And if you enjoy it, well, you’ll probably want to keep doing it. Right?

With three months until New Year, you can set yourself goals and challenges to meet, with a fixed date that can’t be put off. By the time New Year comes around, not only will you be 3 months fitter, it will be so ingrained in your daily routine you may not even notice it’s a resolution.

So, instead of New Year’s Resolution, let’s call this a New Year’s Revelation.

For all the help, discounts, deals, tips and inspiration you’ll need, spend the first 10 minutes of your New Year’s Revelation, finding out how CSSC can help.
