Stress Awareness Month 2023
Stress Awareness Month has been held every April since 1992 to raise awareness of the causes and cures for modern stress. This year the theme is ‘Anxiety’ and as CSSC members you have a world of opportunity to help alleviate the anxiety we all feel, by making use of the many CSSC benefits specially designed to help unite, engage and enthral members.
Ten:four
Ten:four is our ongoing wellness platform providing videos, ideas and tools to help you take ten minutes out, four times a week, just for you. To provide you with the space, time and opportunity to relax, try a new hobby and grow in confidence as you spend time on you.
Take a look at our growing library of 10-minute videos ranging from self-defence to learning a new language. One may just provide the inspiration you’re looking for to explore a new activity which helps you to de-stress.
CSSC life
CSSC life is our free, comprehensive health and wellbeing platform which provides hundreds of hours of content, courses, classes, apps, tutorials and tips on nutrition, fitness, exercise, sleep and relaxation with the help of step counters, calendars, podcasts and many other tools.
Communities
As the adage goes, “A problem shared is a problem halved”. There is good evidence to suggest that time spent with friends, family, colleagues or simply like-minded groups can reduce stress and anxiety and actually help resolve conflicts and issues.
Our growing virtual and in-person communities in walking, reading, gardening and sports are a great way to meet others and share your passions and hobbies with others to focus more on what matters to you.
Historic sites
Our heritage and botanic sites are one of our members’ most favourite ways to relax and unwind. Whether Kew Gardens, Wakehurst, English Heritage, Cadw or Historic Scotland, the benefits of exploring ancient and cultural locations, buildings and gardens with friends and family or legion. Not only do they provide fabulous and informative walks and views for all ages, they’re a great way to put stresses into perspective and to leave modern influences at the gate or portcullis.
Podium members’ magazine
This month’s issue of Podium features articles on great ways to explore the country, connect with others and relieve. From explore English Heritage Gardens to making friends and connecting with the Charity for Civil Servants.

We know there’s a lot to feel frustrated about, but, with your CSSC membership we can help relieve some of those stresses of everyday life, by helping to lower food and utility bills, providing free family days out and giving you loads of ideas and opportunities to relax, unwind and de-stress.
