Ten years of Wales Costal Path
This year, Wales is celebrating 10 years since the official opening of its 870-mile coastal path — the first of its kind in the world.
To mark the occasion, Cadw have teamed up with Wales Coast Path and Deiniol Tegid — a self-proclaimed Wales Coast Path walking enthusiast — to bring you a series of 20 walking itineraries to discover Welsh heritage along the iconic path.
Suitable for people of all ages and abilities, the itineraries outline the very best routes from which to discover 16 Welsh castles, as well as a wide selection of hillforts, stone circles and burial chambers — each boasting a handy map to guide you along your way.
Some of their favourite routes to discover include:
- Llandudno to Conwy — which culminates in a visit to one of the world’s best-preserved medieval fortresses, Conwy Castle
- Harlech to to Dyffryn Ardudwy — which overlooks miles of beautiful beaches and ancient burial chambers, not to mention the medieval majesty of Harlech Castle
- Caldicot Castle to Chepstow Castle — a chance to explore small villages with big histories on the English border as you make your way from one castle to another
- Laugharne Loop — a 4-mile route that follows in the footsteps of Dylan Thomas, ending at Laugharne Castle.
