Meet the Volunteer: Steve Hooker
About Steve
Hello! I’m Steve Hooker - I have been a member of the CSSC since 2nd October 1978, when I joined Post Office Telecommunications at the age of 18.
My 1st place of work was for a company in the glass trade, when I left Holloway comprehensive school in 1976.
I’m also a lifelong Tottenham Hotspur fan, and I am now luckily enough to be a season ticket holder too, at our magnificent stadium.
Being part of CSSC
My wife and I got married in September 2016, in the October we had our honeymoon in Barbados, on a CSSC sports trip, where I was representing the CSSC at darts.
I was also asked to join in the badminton competition, which unbeknown to me was the commonwealth pairs team! We started the match and then the second shot from me ended up with me rupturing my Achilles, the 3rd day-in of a two-week honeymoon, oh great!
Making a difference
I am very approachable, and after the horrendous time we have had with COVID, it would be great to help everyone, to try different sports, to help with their wellbeing, and getting fitter and healthier.
It would great to hear our members thoughts, on how you would like our sports to evolve! I look forward to meeting you all at our local meets and competitions, which I shall try and attend and possibly participate, or help in some capacity if I can. I am at your disposal.
It would also be nice to have some photos and some action shots at the respective national finals this year of the players who will be representing our region. You are all such a huge part of CSSC.
